ISO 9001:2015 Certification:
In 1997, API completed formal ISO 9001 certification. After a rigorous six-month period of preparation and training, we received our certification from NQA (National Quality Assurance, USA). Following the original certification, semi-annual surveillance audits are conducted to maintain our certification. In 2016, after satisfactorily passing the new standards and requirements for ISO 9001-2008, we received our ISO 9001:2015 certification. At API, improvements in the documentation, formal manuals and processes are an on-going endeavor with enhancements and changes incorporated on a regular basis.
ISO 9001:2015 requirements govern nearly all functions at API including the following important factors: quality assurance, material procurement, employee training, production documentation, test records, and handling of discrepant material. We have found that ISO 9001:2015 is much more than a procedural requirement, it a way of life at API.
Customer Qualification:
A multitude of Customers have conducted comprehensive “Supplier Quality System Survey” audits at API. These surveys evaluate our Quality Assurance processes. Military contracts or surveys of this type reflect a pass down of the requirements of Mil-Q-9858 for Quality Assurance and Mil-I-45208 for Inspection of Workmanship. The survey in effect “harmonizes” our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance Plan with the requirements of the US military specifications. These surveys have found API to be compliant to both the ISO & Mil-spec requirements.
Associate Training:
API has a certified IPC trainer on staff to perform continuous comprehensive training for all of our associates. This includes our Wire Harness, Through Hole Board, SMT, Systems Assembly, and Inspection Technicians. Re-certifications are performed based upon the governing body’s requirements. Our trainer also conducts training related to ISO and internal procedures for the entire corporate staff.
